This past week has been quite the adventure. Scott and I had quite a scare on Thursday when I had all the signs of labour beginning...6 weeks too early! Fortunately our midwives are fantastic and were on the ball. We went for an emergency ultrasound on Friday and thankfully he is doing well and is not distressed (not like we were). The only thing missing from the labour equation is my cervix is still intact...changing yes, but still intact. So I am now on permanent rest for the next 2.5 weeks until we have reached the point where it is safe for him to come out. But thank god I don't have to lay around all day. I am allowed to go for a short walk (1 block) and am able to still do limited things like car rides and eating at restaurants. We have another ultrasound this week and have been warned to get ready as he could come at any time. I am just hoping that we don't have to have a C-section done...I really wanted to have this baby (masochistic? No, I just want to be able to be a mom and not healing from major surgery)

- Scott and Alex have known each other for 10 years! Although they met in the fall of 1998, they did not begin dating until September of 2003. Since then, they have taken their relationship on the road travelling across the north and south of Europe, North America and the South Pacific. In 2006 they became happy home owners in Vancouver and in 2007 they were married at the Cecil Green, located at Scott's alma mater UBC. The most recent addition to their family, in 2008, was a West Highland Terrier, Murphy, who has given them a taste of what parenthood will be like. Beginning this January, Alex will be attending graduate school for the winter semester before the baby arrives. The plan is (please hold your giggles) to take 6 months off after the birth, resuming classes the following January.
