It's a BOY!!!!! My intuition was right! Scott is over the moon about his little mini me.
We had our ultrasound last evening at Womens Hospital and we are relieved/pleased to let everyone know that everything looks great. The technologist was a wonderful woman (mother of 2) who had us in stitches the entire time we were there. She was very kind and showed us our baby in great detail. We were able to see his spine, kidneys, hands and feet (10 fingers & 10 toes!) stomach, leg and arm bones, brain and skull. At first he was sleeping head down, (he looked like he was thinking 'yay we're at the hospital, get me out of here so we can get this party started!') but he eventually woke up and turned horizontal. We were able to see him swallowing with his little tongue, which I attribute to the peaches and cottage cheese I ate just before our appointment. I have posted his second photos below. (His first photo was at 10 weeks when he resembled a bean) Are those eyelashes in the second photo? No wonder I have heartburn!
As for a health update, I still have a little heartburn but it has greatly improved. It only seems to get a little sore when I fall off the wagon and eat something I know I shouldn't. My bruising is greatly improved (although I have a mystery goose egg on my shin) and my blood work came back with a good level of hemoglobin and platelet count. At our appointment yesterday we were told that the baby's neck looks good (no signs of downs syndrom or spina bifida) so I won't be so anxious about my triple screen now. In general I am feeling better, but a little more tired and the headaches are still prevelant. As you can see in the posted pictures below, my stomach is continuing to grow. I purchased my first maternity jeans and cargo pants last week and am pleased to report they don't look like "mom jeans". I have also been turned onto a baby store called Westcoast Kids in Richmond (Thanks to Jen's kinda sister-in-law). It is fabulous with great furniture and baby gear but at lower prices than other stores (the stroller we are planning to buy is 10% cheaper there) Westcoast Kids is located at 12411 Bridgeport Rd.
I was offered another contract at SFU yesterday. I would be able to work from home and would work on coding and running annalysis on the data I gathered last summer. I let them know that I am interested but that I need more information, so I have a meeting scheduled up on the mountain next week. I enjoy working with Dr. Hoskyn but I have to be careful not to spread myself too thin (which I am prone to do).
I have my first "quiz" next week so I will be studying today as well as hitting some baby stores to buy my first baby boy clothes! I just can't help myself.
Bye for now,
Alex
