The Beginning of Week 18

I can not believe how quickly, (and slowly) this pregnancy is progressing. I am now definitely showing and will post a new picture to celebrate another month passed. We will officially be in our 5th month next week. Scott and I have started researching baby gear as there is soooo much to choose from. We have found the Consumer Report to be helpful, and plan to check out the items we have been reading about this weekend.

As for my progress I am pleased to say that I have managed to get my heartburn under control. I have found that Tums do nothing for me, but sipping Club Soda (thanks Dad) has been the answer. I am still having some discomfort, but nothing like I was. According to those I have talked with this means the baby is growning hair...a little early don't you think? I had some blood work done last week, as I have been bruising a little more that normal, to check my hemoglobin and Platelet count. I also asked to have a test for Down Syndrom and Spinal Bifida and will have those results of my baby's probability in a few weeks.

I am finding that I am feeling better in general, but have found that I am vomiting more often than before. But it is not an all day sick feeling, it is an "OH GOD"; I throw up pretty suddenly and then get on with my day with no down time. I have also found my balance to be off. I was on my way to class last weekend and tripped and fell in an alley behind Albernie Street. Not the nicest place to kiss the pavement but it was out of my control. Luckily I didn't hit my stomach, I sort of slid like Super Man on my side with my arms above my head. I escaped with only a bruised knee, scraped hand, and very tender quad which is finally feeling better this morning.

We are looking forward to beginning our 5th month and will be having our second ultrasound in just under 2 weeks. I am also planning on attending my first prenatal yoga class this week (thanks to Kristen for some passes to try it out!).

Bye for now,
Alex
